Torus Calculator

Definition

A torus is a geometric figure created by revolving a two dimensional circle around an axis that is coplanar with it. Basically a torus is the shape of a ring - and if you know the minor and the major radius, you can use our calculator to calculate its volume and surface area.

r
radius of the tube - "minor radius"
R
distance from the center of the torus to the center of the tube - "major radius"

Equation form:

Surface Area (SA) = (2 * π * r) * (2 * π * R) = 4 * π² * R * r = 4 π² R r
Volume (V) = (π * r²) * (2 * π * R) = 2 * π² * R * r² = 2 π² R r²
